Role Overview

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for translating Virgil HealthCare Platforms’ strategic vision into operational excellence, ensuring consistent execution across manufacturing, supply chain, service delivery, quality systems, and internal operations.

This role requires a senior operations leader with deep exposure to diagnostics, medical devices, or regulated healthcare environments, capable of building scalable, compliant, and cost-efficient operations that support global growth.

The COO will report to the Founder-CEO, and work closely with CTO, Quality & Regulatory, Commercial, and Finance leaders to ensure that operations are audit-ready, customer-reliable, and growth-oriented.

Key Responsibilities

1.⁠⁠ Operations Strategy & Execution

  • Define and execute the operations strategy aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
  • Establish operational KPIs, dashboards, and governance rhythms.
  • Ensure predictable execution across manufacturing, deployment, and service operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes, cost, quality, and delivery timelines.

2. Manufacturing & Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee manufacturing operations, assembly, testing, and quality release of diagnostic solutions.
  • Build and manage supplier and vendor ecosystems, including contract manufacturers.
  • Ensure supply chain resilience, traceability, and cost optimization.
  • Implement demand planning, inventory control, and logistics processes.

3.⁠⁠ Quality Systems & Regulatory Readiness

  • Own operational compliance with ISO 13485 and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Quality & Regulatory teams to ensure design transfer, production controls, and CAPA effectiveness.
  • Ensure audit readiness across operations, suppliers, and partners.
  • Drive a culture where quality and patient safety are operational priorities.

4.⁠⁠ Service Delivery & Customer Operations

  • Establish and scale installation, deployment, service, and support operations.
  • Define SLAs, service metrics, and escalation processes.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction across labs, hospitals, and partners.
  • Support field operations and post-deployment performance monitoring.

5. ⁠⁠Process Excellence & Scalability

  • Design and institutionalize SOPs, workflows, and operational controls.
  • Implement ERP and operational systems in collaboration with IT and Finance.
  • Enable scalability across multiple geographies and customer segments.
  • Reduce dependency on individuals through process and system maturity.

6.⁠⁠ Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Align operations with product development, commercial execution, and financial planning.
  • Act as the integrator across R&D, manufacturing, quality, sales, and service.
  • Support new product introductions and market expansions.

7.⁠⁠ Risk Management & Business Continuity

  • Identify and mitigate operational, supply chain, and compliance risks.
  • Establish business continuity and contingency plans.
  • Ensure operational resilience in regulated and mission-critical environments.

8.⁠⁠ People & Performance Management

  • Build and lead high-performing operations teams.
  • Define roles, performance metrics, and accountability structures.
  • Drive a culture of ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience

Must Have

  • 15+ years of experience in operations leadership within MedTech, diagnostics, medical devices, or regulated healthcare environments.
  • Proven track record of scaling manufacturing and service operations.
  • Strong experience with ISO 13485, quality systems, and regulatory audits.
  • Hands-on leadership experience in supply chain, vendor management, and operational execution.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting global markets and export-oriented operations.
  • Exposure to FDA / CE regulatory environments.
  • Experience in VC-backed or high-growth companies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and operational analytics.
